Where is my data stored?
On your own device, in VIRA’s private storage. There is no BlackStar Devs server and the developer receives none of your records. Data leaves your device only if you switch on cloud sync or choose to send an email to the developer.
Is my data encrypted?
The password locks the app, but VIRA does not add its own encryption to stored records, photos or documents. They are protected by your device’s own security, such as the screen lock and device encryption. Synced copies are covered by your cloud provider’s security.
How do I keep my phone and PC in step?
Switch on sync and sign in to your own OneDrive or Google Drive. VIRA copies its records to its own folder there (Apps/VIRA on OneDrive, VIRA Sync on Google Drive) and merges changes, with the newest edit winning. Automatic sync is optional and can be limited to Wi-Fi. You can also export a .vira sync file and move it yourself.
I have forgotten my password. What can I do?
Use your recovery code if you set one. If not, Forgot password lets you erase VIRA from that device and start again; you can then restore from your cloud copy if you sync. Without a recovery code or a cloud copy, data on that device cannot be recovered.
Can VIRA look up my vehicle from its registration?
Not in the current version. Lookup is switched off, so nothing is sent to the DVLA or DVSA.
Is VIRA available on Android, Mac or iPhone?
The Android version is in testing on Google Play and is not public yet. Mac and iPhone versions are in development. Windows is available now.
How do I report a problem or ask for a feature?
Use the Feedback page in VIRA. It opens a pre-filled email in your own email app, with a reference number, your VIRA version and platform. Nothing is sent until you press Send. You can also email mail@blackstardevs.info directly.
